HULL - Berthine Marie Kitchens, 75, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011.
Born in Colbert, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Bertha Bridges McElroy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Milo Kitchens; and brother, Neil McElroy. She retired from Leon Farmer and Company. She was a member of the Colbert First United Methodist Church and a former member of the AMVETS Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. Kitchens enjoyed volunteering in any way that would help others and had a life-long love and compassion for animals and their wellbeing.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lori Lance and Greg Chatham, Hull. Mrs. Kitchens was particularly close to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bud and Alice Kitchens, of Stapleton.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to respectfully suggest that those wishing to honor her memory do so by making a donation in her name to Circle of Friends Animal Society, P.O. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at the Colbert First United Methodist Church.
