COMER - Wanda Elaine Spence-Smith, 65, died Friday, June 24, 2011.
Born in Clarksville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Janie Bibee Durham.╩ She had worked for Clarke and Oconee County DFCS offices and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Spence-Smith was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Smith; children, Kim (Chris) Carithers, Comer, Randy Spence, Hull, Lewis Durham, Commerce, Christy Spence, Carlton; step-children, Sara Conger, Melanie Johnson, Pam Smith, Wendell Smith; sisters, Sarah Gregory, Judy King, Sharon Reyes; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 26, at Lord & Stephens East Chapel Funeral Home. Burial was at Athens Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter or to the American Kidney Foundation.
