‘Johnny’ Murphy (6-23-11)

PENDERGRASS - John Willie “Johnny” Murphy, 66, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011.

Mr. Murphy was born in Jackson County, a son to the late Oscar and Lela Ethel Morris Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. His wife, Margaret Hicks Murphy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters, Angela Lee Rige, Dahlonega, Pamela Sue Loggins, Oakwood, Ellie Murphy, Pendergrass; a son, Clark Daniel Murphy, Dawsonville; sisters, Emma Reed, Maysville, Betty Adams, Pendergrass; brothers, Gene Murphy and Ike Murphy, both of Pendergrass, Paul Murphy, Homer; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 25, at 2p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Johnny Knight and Jeff Graham officiating. The burial will follow in the Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 noon to 2p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
