COLBERT - William Howell "Bill” Mattison, 72, died Monday, June 20, 2011.
The son of the late Winston and Lawrence Mattison, he was active in Colbert Baptist Church and was an avid horseman. He was a member of The Circuit Riders Christian Fellowship Ministry, Cowboy Poetry through the Georgia Cowboy Poets.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Mattison; son and daughter-in-law, Ken (Leah) Mattison; sister, Marie (Ronald) Goza, Virginia; brother, Raymond Mattison, Winder; grandson, William "Will" Howell Mattison II; granddaughter, Kate Mattison; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Colbert Baptist Church. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, June 22, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Colbert Cemetery.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.

The whole earth will eventually be brought to a gardenlike paradise state. The Scriptures say: “The wilderness and the waterless region will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron. . . . For in the wilderness waters will have burst out, and torrents in the desert plain. And the heat-parched ground will have become as a reedy pool, and the thirsty ground as springs of water.”—Isaiah 35:1, 6, 7. My condolences.

May God comfort you at this time. I read that Bill had passed but all that could come to my mind were all of the fun chilldhood memories of when he lived just up the road from us. Precious man, precious family.
