HOOVER, ALA. - Dorothy Wood Tatum, 90, formerly of Homer, died on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Born on August 27, 1920, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Marion Henry and Ethel Jane Cunningham Wood. She was a member of the Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hunter, Ala. Dorothy loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Pete Sfakianos, Hoover, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Ann Tatum, Savannah; sisters, Jeanette Simmons, Virginia Martin, and Polly Hooks; brother, Jack Wood, Cordele; grandchildren, Beth Smith, Jeff Sfakianos, Rebecca Howell, Greg Sfakianos, Kathryn Saunders; adopted by the heart, Kristen Winslow and Olivia Odem; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, from the Bethany Christian Church Cemetery with the Rev. L. Jackson Howell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
