LAWRENCEVILLE - Mary Rylee Grizzle, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Maria Grizzle, Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Steve Spanks, Lawrenceville; brothers, David and Jean Rylee, Between, Ga. and Ralph Rylee, Lilburn; sisters, Linda and John Steele, Monroe, and Ruth Newman, Jonesboro; grandchildren, Kelly Grizzle, Gainesville, Deena and Tim Haney, Waleska, Kira Spanks, Valdosta, Scott and Soji Grizzle, Lawrenceville, and Josh Spanks, Lawrenceville; two great-grandchildren, Brooks Haney and Aiden Grizzle; sister-in-law, Mildred Rylee, Grayson, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Rylee Grizzle was born in Gillsville, and was a 1945 graduate of The Gillsville School where she was a member of the National Beta Club. In 1948 she moved to Atlanta with her cousin, Evelyn Rylee, to work with Southern Bell and retired from there in 1982. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, and loved gardening, family activities and any event that involved her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cedric and Bessie Rylee; her husband, J.T. Grizzle; and brothers, Harold Rylee and James Rylee.
The Service Celebrating the Life of Mary Rylee Grizzle will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Interment to follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery where she was a 1962 charter member, choir member and Sunday School teacher. The Family will receive friends Thursday, June 16, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday morning from 11 a.m. until service time.
