Lucy Benton (6-7-11)

COMMERCE - Lucy Margaret Benton, 93, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Northridge Medical Center.

Mrs. Benton was born in Oglethorpe County, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lizzie Hutcheson Partain. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce and was retired from Blue Bell and Ruth's Florist. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. "Red" Benton.

Survivors include daughters, Marion Wendinger, Commerce, and Betty Collins, Gainesville; a son, Joel Benton, Commerce; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with David Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night, June 8, from 6 to 9 p.m.
