JEFFERSON - Carlotta A. Shields, 39, died on Monday, June 6, 2011.
She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of Mary A. Shields of Jefferson and the late Arthur Atkism. Mrs. Shields was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Davenport. Carlotta accepted Christ at an early age, and she later rededicated her life fully to God at the St. Paul First Baptist Church. For many years she was a member of the Choir and Praise team. For those who knew her, Carlotta loved music and singing was her ministry and gift.
She was educated by the Jefferson and Jackson County School systems, graduating in 1989. Mrs. Shields was employed by the Mayfield Dairy in Braselton for 14 years and was a faithful member of the St. Paul First Baptist Church in Jefferson.
Survivors in addition to her mother include children, Anquan Daniel and Shalatta Daniel, both of Jefferson; sisters, Cristal Shields, Jefferson, and Nallie Atkism, Monroe; nieces and nephew, Shakristan Law, Shaekiya Law, Stantez Law, all of Jefferson, Breanna Atkism, Shanara Jackson, Tyeshia Jackson, all of Monroe; and a host of aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m. in the St. Paul First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Simmons officiating. The burial will follow in the Jackson Memorial Park. The visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
