WINDER - Cecil William Mathis, 73, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Winder Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Walton County on April 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Hubert F. and Ola Mae Kilgore Mathis. He was a carpenter and painter. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Mathis, and his wife, Agnes Speer Mathis.
Survivors include children, Melinda and Summer Ingram, Auburn, Cynthia Frost, Madison, Michael Mathis, Monroe, Wayne Mathis, Loganville, and Sharon and Billy Brock, Winder; brothers, David Jack Mathis, Auburn, H.F. Mathis and Herman Mathis, both of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Danny and Shasta Tillery, Madison, David Mathis, Amy Simmons, John Wayne Mathis, Kayla Mathis, William Mathis, Katie Brock, Heather Brock and William Brock, all of Winder; great-grandchildren, Ty Tillery and Laney Tillery, both of Madison; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at Hill Haven Memory Gardens, Monroe, at a later date.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the dedicated staff at Winder Health Care who have taken care of Daddy and treated him like family for the last ten years. May God bless each of you.
