ILA – Elmer J. McCannon, 96, died Saturday June 4, 2001 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Elmer and Addie Sailers McCannon and widower of Maydell Roberts McCannon. He served as Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy for 23 years, worked at General Time in Athens and was a member of Ila Baptist Church. Mr McCannon was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ann McCannon Thornley and Florene McCannon Osborne Brooks and brother, John Ralph McCannon.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Monday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Ila Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make contributions to the Ila Cemetery Fund.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville is in charge of arrangements.
