JEFFERSON – Kory Thomas Potts, 23, died Sunday May 22, 2011, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Kory was born August 14, 1987, in Athens, the son of Jeff and Kelli Wilbanks Potts of Jefferson. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and attended Galilee Christian Church, and was a cowboy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Locke and Raja Potts; grandfather, Thomas Wilbanks; and uncle, Hal Potts.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include a brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Chelsey Potts, Jefferson; grandmother, Betty Wilbanks, Jefferson; niece Katy Paige Potts, Jefferson; uncles and aunts, Damon and Janice Wilbanks and Nick and Christy Potts, all of Jefferson; aunts and uncles, Cissy and Ricky Wood and Rhonda and Scott Sailors, all of Jefferson; cousins, Casey, Shawn and Kade McNally, Carla, Tyler, Gracie Beth and Ty Truelove, Cole and Ansleigh Potts, Hunter Grayson, Matthew and Seth Potts, Chad, Charlotte, Brynn, and Jackson Sims, Van, Beth, Amy, and Tripp Bullock, Jay and Michelle Reece and Family, Melanie Sims, and Jean Bullock.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, at 5 p.m. at Galilee Christian Church with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Burial will be on the Potts Farm in Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, at Galilee Christian Church from 2 until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Glenn, A.J. Marlowe, Ryan Gurley, Jon Veldhuis, Chase Mitchell, Chris Curtis, Michael Whiting, Blake Gooch, and Josh Nabors. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wesley Brock, R.L. Massey, Timothy Wilson, Hank Tiller, Dennis Black, Tomas Rodriguez, Cole Elrod, and Rob Sanders.

Remembering that little boy with the chubby cheeks who used to come into The Jackson Herald to visit his grandparents, Miss Betty & Mr. Tom. What a reunion that is going on in Heaven right now!
