DANIELSVILLE – Richard Roy Griffeth, 83, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Cobb Healthcare.
Born on October 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert and Ollie Monroe Griffeth in Danielsville. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Tidewater, was a heavy equipment mechanic, and was the former mayor of Danielsville.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Bob Burroughs Griffeth, Danielsville; four children, Doug and Patti Griffeth, Bethlehem, Don Griffeth, Bob Griffeth and Robin Griffeth, all of Danielsville; five grandchildren, Lacey Griffeth, Douglas Griffeth, Allison Griffeth, Harley Whitehead, and Colt Whitehead.
Graveside services were held Sunday, May 22, in Danielsville Memorial Cemetery with the Revs. John Resser and Herman Nations officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Danielsville Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
