Ronald “Ron” D. Baker, 60, of 3400 Hwy. 63, Carnesville, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospice House.
Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Carey D. and Dorothy Byrd Baker and was married to Beverly Lewallen Baker. Ron was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., having served in Vietnam. He received four Purple Heart medals, the Medal of Combat V. and the Bronze Star.
Survivors along with his wife, include daughters, Alisha and Shane Roberts and Kayla Segars, all of Carnesville, brother, Don Baker, Five Points, Ala.; sisters, Kathy Brannon and Debbie Warburton, both of Lawrenceville, and Sheree Mayo, Gainesville; grandchildren, Morgan Roberts, Maribeth Roberts and Matthew Roberts; an aunt, Blanche Hodges, Dothan, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 3, at Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Eller officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
