Dean Reed (5-5-11)

OAKWOOD – Dean Reed, 76, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born on September 17, 1934, the son of the late Leonard and Roach Wallis Reed. He was retired after 22 years of service at General Motors and owned Dean Reed Grading for 17 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley and working on his ‘57 Chevy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Evelyn Atkins Reed; brothers, Wilton and Jacob Reed; and sister, Elaine Williams.

Survivors include a son, Randall Reed, Oakwood; brothers, Jerry Reed. Clarkesville, and Jimmy Reed, Oakwood; sister and brother-in-law, Charlene Reed and Aubrey Tipton, Oakwood; grandchildren, Tabitha and Toby Reed; nephews, Dwayne Williams and Dennis Tipton; nieces, Leann Evans, Sandra Nix, and Kim Newell.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Oakwood City Cemetery with the Revs. Randall Reed and Steve Fenlon officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
