Rev. Jamie Doster (5-4-11)

CARLTON - Rev. Jamie Lee Doster, 76, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011.

A native of Thompson, he was a son of the late Bessie Mae McLeroy and William Thomas Doster. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Doster Gabriel; grandson, Derick (Duck) Cleghorne; and sisters, Ann Jackson and Mattie Lester. Rev. Doster was the pastor of Edwards Baptist Church in Crawford for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Cowart Doster; two sons, Neal (Joan) Doster, Carlton, and David W. Cowart, Athens; two daughters, Sheila Doster Smith and Pamela Doster Nunnally, both of Carlton; two brothers, Eugene Thomas (Jean) Doster, Clermont, Raymon Andy Doster, Morganton; sister, Willie Doster (Lon) Crawford, Athens; eight grandchildren, Melissa Gabriel McGarity, Scott Gabriel, James Lee Cleghorne, Trista Rouse Blankenship, Shannon Doster Shiver, Dustin McDaris, Robbie Smith and Matthew Doster; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord & Stephens, Danielsville, with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and Buford Lockman officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Holloman, Rodney Epps, Ken Watson, Eddie Barnett, William Doster and Allen Cowart. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Sanders, Keith Sanders, Nelson Cowart, Gary Cowart, Stan Lester and Don Lester.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Edwards Baptist Church.
