BALDWIN – Edna Kathleen “Kathy” Broome, 68, died Monday, April 25, 2011, following a brief illness.
Born on February 7, 1943, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Broome and Bytha Mae Lewallen Lerminez. Mrs. Broome was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Juanita Toarmino. She was retired after many years in the health care profession. She was an avid reader, loved her cats, crafts, and enjoyed artwork. Kathy loved to cook and she enjoyed canning various foods with her mother. She was warming, affectionate, and a very giving person. Most of all, Kathy loved and appreciated her family. She was of the Baptist denomination.
Survivors include a nephew, Edward J. Toarmino, Michigan; nieces, Deborah Long and Victoria Lopo, both of Michigan, and Linda Sears, Florida; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; uncle and aunt, John A. and Myrtle Lewallen; aunt, Hazel Smith, Baldwin; and many cousins and other relatives.
A graveside memorial will be held Wednesday, May 4, at 11 a.m., from the Line Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of arrangements.
