Bennie Broom

Bennie Broom, 70, of Baldwin, died Monday, August 4, 2008, following a brief illness.

A Habersham County native, he was born on May 24, 1938, the son of the late Emory and Evalou Smith Broom. He was a self employed carpenter and a member of Crossroads Holiness Church. Mr. Broom was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Herron Broom.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Laverne and Clinton Jones, Demorest, and Tina Canup, Clarkesville; sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Broom, Clarkesville, Chris and Crystal Broom, Hollywood; brothers, Emory “M” Broom, Jr. and Walter Broom, both of Gainesville, J.C. Broom, Danielsville, and Luther Broom, Murrayville; sisters, Lila Gaines, Martha Loggins, Katie Cochran and Louise Malando, all of Gainesville; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 6, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville, with the Revs. Danny Herron, Alvin Loggins and Kenneth Taylor officiating. Burial was in Springway Baptist Church cemetery.
Hillside Memorial Chapel, Clarkesville, was in charge of arrangements.
