‘Marty’ Murphy (4-12-11)

PENDERGRASS – Margaret Diane Hicks “Marty” Murphy, 55, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

Born in Madison, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lilly Mae Angel Hicks. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Carter; and brothers, Frankie Joe Hicks, Fred C. Hicks, Eugene Hicks and John Alton Hicks.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Murphy, Pendergrass; daughter, Ellie Murphy, Pendergrass; sisters, Charlotte Reynolds and Gail Martin, both of Bethlehem, Patricia Gooch, Braselton, Edna Hartness, Cartersville, Rachel Brooks, Cumming; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Jeff Graham, Johnny Knight and Leroy Gooch officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
