‘Millie’ Christian (4-10-11)

WINDER – Mildred P. “Millie” Christian, 85, died Sunday, April 10, 2011.

Born in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Ace T. and Cora Dell Pope. She was a member of Union Baptist Church since October 1987, was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of WMU and was in the choir. She was a member of the North Hemerocallis Daylily Society, the N.E. GA Daylily Association, and was retired from Warner Robins AFB, where she was a logistics clerk.

Survivors include her husband, Shelton C. “Chris” Christian, Winder; daughters, Diann Kennedy, Hoschton, Jean Phillips, Bonaire, and Linda Eldred, Sandia Park, N.M.; stepdaughter, Judy Higdon, Lula; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert Pope and Bobby Pope, both of Pineview; sisters, Mae Wertanen and Janie Anderson, both of Rochelle, Ruby Hannah, Pineview, and Ola Nell Gibbs, Abbeville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Rudy Camp officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, April 15, from 6 to 9 p.m.
