ROCKVALE, TENN. - Patricia Dougherty Burns, 78, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
She was a native of Jackson County and was the daughter of the late Eugene B. Dougherty and Mary Williamson Dougherty Shell. She was a member of the Rockvale Church of God, a 1949 graduate of Benton High School in Nicholson and was the secretary at I. P. Burns and Son Feed, Seed and Fertilizer in Rockvale for many years. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her son, Charles I. “Chuck” Burns Jr.
Survivors include her husband Charles I. Burns; daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie Burns, Crystal and Larry Leathers and Patricia and Billy Joe Johnson, all of Rockvale, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Lynn Dougherty, Athens; grandchildren, B.J. Johnson, Michael Johnson and Patrick Leathers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Morgan Davis officiating. Burial will be at Burns Family Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Murfreesboro, Tenn. is in charge of arrangements.
