'Lu' Peterman (4-06-11)

WINDER - Lula “Lu” Peterman, 85, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

A native of Cusseta, she was the daughter of the late Johnston H. and Vivia Hollis Stanford. Mrs. Peterman was a longtime member of The Winder First Baptist Church, where she attended the Naomi Sunday School Class. She was a 1945 graduate of Mercer University and was a retired educator with the Barrow County Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband, John Peterman, Winder; daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Pat Porter, Decatur, and LuAnn and Al Hicks of Brunswick; grandchildren, Zach Porter, Katie Aiken and Anna Hicks; great-grandchildren, Bowen Aiken and Dane Porter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, from the Antioch Baptist Church in Butler, with the Rev. Hubert Addleton officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 11 a.m., from the Winder First Baptist Church with John Talley officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
