BOWERSVILLE – Mae Bell Leachman Wilkes, 79, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011.
Born in Commerce, she was the daughter of the late George and Ella Kelley Leachman. She was a seamstress at the Bell Grade Sewing Mill. Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thomas Wilkes.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Wilkes, Bowersville; daughter, Patricia Perry, Neece; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Vaughn Howington officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

I always enjoyed talking with Mrs. Wilkes at our yard sales. She really knew what to do with a needle and thread! Her quilts were beautiful! Prayers are going up for her family in the days ahead.
