JEFFERSON - Charles Clifford Ward, 87, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Athens Regional Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.
Born on April 5, 1923, he was the son of Julius Bell Ward and Maggie Eugenia Sargent of Cordele. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and a frequent visitor to the Jackson County Senior Center. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a retired electrician.
Cliff was a loving, caring and giving husband, father and friend, loved ones stated.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin Ward, Javan Ward, Bela Ward and Boyd Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Ward; a son, Tommy Johnson; daughter, Kathy Johnson; brother, Bill Ward; sister, Ethyl Rowland; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, at 2 p.m., from Rainey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Rainey Funeral Home, Cordele, is in charge of arrangements.
