HOMER – Ricky Wayne Goodman, 48, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Marietta on January 14, 1963, he was the son of Harley W. and Frances A. Goodman of Toccoa. He served in the United States Army for nineteen and one-half years and proudly served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David A. and Mary Ann Frady Ramey.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of 29 years, Deborah Ramey Goodman, Homer; sons, Ricky W. Goodman II, Baldwin, and David Joseph Goodman, Homer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Dennis Doss, Amber and Mark Harmon, all of Mt. Airy; granddaughter, Lillian Elaine Goodman, Maysville; sisters-in-law, Sabrina Ramey, Marlene Armstrong, both of Baldwin; brothers-in-law, Joe Ramey, Baldwin, Roger Ramey, Hickory, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 18, at 6 p.m., from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with Pastor Trent Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon and 4 p.m. until the service hour.
Mr. Goodman's wishes were to be cremated.
