OAKWOOD – Buford M. Smith, 77, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Greensboro, he was the son of the late Fletcher Lee and Eula (Channell) Smith. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of West Hall Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and head usher.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte (Butler) Smith, Oakwood; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Audrey Smith, Flowery Branch; daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn and Ralph Moore and Tracy Lynn Smith, all of Gainesville, Charlene and Wayne Alewine, Flowery Branch, Lisa and Joey Wilson, Panama City, Fla.; daughter and fiancé, Dana Smith and Don Adams, both of Oakwood; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers; seven sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, at West Hall Baptist Church with Mike Reynolds officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park South Cemetery.
