Charles Major Martin (3-11-11)

HULL – Charles Major Martin, 67, died Friday, March 11, 2011.

A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Major Jackson and Nannie Rhee Fields Martin. He was a part-time employee for Bernstein Funeral Home and was a member of Erastus Christian Church. He served in the United States Army Reserve and was a retired construction superintendent. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a son, Carl Martin.

Survivors include a daughter, Robin Hallenbeck and husband, Mark, Athens; close personal friend, Ann Dudley, Ila; and grandchildren, Taylor Hallenbeck, Grace Hallenbeck, Caitlin Martin and Ashley Martin.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 13, from the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Parker and Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
