Nick Lackey

Nick Lackey, 59, of Winder, died Monday, August 4, 2008.

Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Rowena Lackey of Winder and the late Charlie Lackey Sr. He was a 1968 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, a scout leader for Troop 700, was employed by Stepan for 25 years, and was a charter member of Optimist Club. He was a member of the Marine Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Charisse Lackey, Winder; sons and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lisamarie Lackey, Richmond, Va., and Jarrod Lackey, Athens; brothers, Charlie Lackey, Norcross, and Rex Lackey, Statham; and a sister, Victoria Garrett, Winder.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, at 4 p.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Larry Wynn, Mr. Jim West Mr. Cook Holliday and Mayor Chip Thompson officiating. The body was cremated. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 6, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home.
