LULA – William Robert “Bill” Venable, 86, formerly of Commerce, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his residence.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Carl and Ella Mae Seagraves Venable. He was a retired United States Air Force veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He was also a retired police officer. Mr. Venable was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth “Sissie” Standridge Venable.
Survivors include daughters, Diann Matthews, Hartwell, and Connie Gardiner, Maysville; a son, Allen Venable, Lula; sister, Annette Sanders, Athens; brother, Tommy Gene Venable, Nicholson; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and special friends, Tommy and Margaret Perdue.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. James Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 3, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
