COMMERCE – Mary Olivia Strickland Hope, 93, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at her residence.
Born in Barnesville, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Emily Harris Strickland. She was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce, where she was the church organist for 45 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother loved ones stated. Mrs. Hope was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Hope.
Survivors include daughters, Emily Hope Harber, Commerce, Claudia Hope Lacy, Clarkesville, and Anne Hope Fleming, Commerce; sister, Caroline Moore, Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandchildren, Lee Scoggins, Greer Scoggins, Tal Harber, Rob Harber, Jay Allen, Lindsey A. Denton, Jed Lacy, Aaron Lacy, John Lacy and Nate Lacy; great-grandchildren, Ollie, Jensen, Katherine, Amanda, Hope, Asher, Joel and Ryen.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m., from the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with David Bowen officiating. Burial will be at Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, May 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Commerce, the First United Methodist Church of Commerce Needy Fund, P.O. Box 755, Commerce, GA 30529, or Banks-Jackson Food Bank.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
