MAYSVILLE – James Ray “J.R.” Nichols, 79, died Friday, February 18, 2011.
Born in Anderson, S.C., he was the son of the late Grady and Christine Miles Nichols. He was a retired machinist at Lockheed in Marietta, a member of the Center Grove Baptist Church, and was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by a daughter, Chris Nichols; sisters, Barbara Poole, Virginia Evans, Faye Nichols, and Martha Nichols; and brothers, S.T. Richard and Wayne Nichols.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Gail Nichols, Maysville; children, Cindy Rollins, Stefanie Rivas, Beverly Fransen, Natalie Pinson, Jimmy Nichols, Marlene Ramirez, Cindy O’Riley, Scott Nichols and Pat Nichols; brothers, David Nichols and Gene Nichols; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 20, from the Center Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Sizemore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Matthew Sears, Joseph Pinson, Marco Majano, Tommy Fransen, Chris Rivas, William Bray, Jeremy Nichols and Kale Holbrooks honored as pallbearers.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
