James Childs

HULL – James Raymond Childs, 76, died Thursday, February 3, 2011.

A native of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late James Willie and Lenora Hendrix Childs. He was retired from Inland Steel Company and was a United States Navy veteran. Mr. Childs was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Mack; and two brothers, Frank Childs Sr. and Odis Childs.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruby Michael Childs; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Regina Childs; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Scott Buice; sister, Nettie Bradshaw; grandchildren, James Phillip Childs, Dwayne Drake, Lindsey Walshe, Logan Buice and Christopher Buice; great-grandchild, Georgia Ann Walshe; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 7, from Brown Chapel, Danielsville, with the Revs. Mitch Elder and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Gerald Maddox, Scott Bradshaw, Frank Childs Jr., Josh Walshe, Jay Swinford, Bobby Chafin and Anthony England.

Brown Chapel, Danielsville, had complete arrangements.
