JEFFERSON – Raymond Dedeo Bauerband, 77, died Sunday, February 6, 2011.
Born in Rahway, N.J., he was the son of the late Robert Louis and Annette Dedeo Bauerband. Mr. Bauerband was a veteran of the United States Army. After service, he attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, Tifton, before graduating from the University of Georgia in 1957 with a degree in agricultural engineering. After graduation he was employed by the US Soil Conservation Service in Cumming and then had a long career with Georgia Power Company until retiring in 1990. He served on the Jackson County Airport Authority board until December 2010 and was a member of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting and was an avid Georgia Bulldog football supporter.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jean Griffeth Bauerband, Jefferson; daughter, Carol Bauerband Barnhart, Charlotte, N.C.; son, James Raymond Bauerband, Gainesville; grandchildren, Jennifer and Samantha Barnhart and Joy, Caroline and Hallie Bauerband.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, from the Jefferson First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, February 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jefferson First United Methodist Church, 188 Martin Street, Jefferson, GA 30549 or the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
