James Benjamin Meadows, 73, died Monday, January 31, 2011, at his residence after fighting ALS.
He honorably served in the United States Marine Corp and United States Navy. He was a Mason and retired from Delta Airlines after 34 years as Director of Quality Control. He then went to work part-time at The Home Depot in Stone Mountain for 15 years. Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Sue; four children, Jimmy Meadows, Susie Burnette, JoAnn Shelton, Pam Eller and their families; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Diana Meadows; sister-in-law, Gloria Clark; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Bee Allen; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved friend, Mary Woods.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5, at 4 p.m., from Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday, February 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
