JEFFERSON - Elmo Waller, 94, died Sunday, January 30, 2011.
Born in Upson County, he was the son of the late Neugent and Nellie Gilbert Waller. He was a retired office manager with Jackson Electric Membership Corporation after 19 years of service, a member of the Jefferson Rotary Club, a member and former Deacon of the Jefferson First Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday School in the Baraca Sunday School Class. Mr. Waller was an avid gardener and shared the fruits of his labor with his neighbors.
Survivors include wife, Nell McCard Waller, Jefferson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Gail Waller, Covington, and Tim and LuAnn Waller, Sandy Springs; one sister, Frances Young, Smyrna; two grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 2, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson with Michael Helms and the Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Church on Wednesday morning beginning at 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. Honored as pallbearers will be Michael Green, Andrew Green, Parker Green, Paul Green, Noah Green, Doug Thurmond, Phil Thurmond and Derek McCard. Members of the Baraca Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Food Bank of the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 395, Jefferson, Georgia 30549.
