COLBERT – Quinton Tyner, 82, died Friday, January 28, 2011, at the Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston.
Born in the Shiloh Community in Madison County, on December 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Rueben Tyner Sr. and Pauline Bruce Tyner. He was a 20-year retiree of the United States Air Force, where he served as Master Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He also worked for 17 years as a supervisor for Terminal Trucking Company. He was a Mason with the Glenwood Lodge and attended the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Tyner was preceded in death by his wife, Ferrol Carey Tyner.
Survivors include daughters, Sylvia Faucett, Colbert, and Cheryl Tyner, Decatur; grandchildren, Joseph Faucett, James Faucett and Elizabeth Faucett; great-grandchildren, Vanessa Faucett-Williams and Dylan Pappe-Vining; brothers, Wilbur Tyner, Bogart, Alvin Tyner, Charleston, S.C., and Rueben Tyner Jr., Danielsville; and a sister, Katie Tyner Gunnells, Hull.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 31, at 4 p.m., from the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday prior to the service. The family is at their respective homes.
