COMMERCE – Oscar Beecher “O.B.” Stevens, 93, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at BJC Medical Center in Commerce.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late John Lester and Elzie Elizabeth Bowden Stevens. He was a United States Army veteran and was a member of Webbs Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a row crop farmer and carpenter. Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Evelyn Stevens.
Survivors include daughters, Aleene Kesler (Gene), Shirley Willis, and Ruby Fleeman (Junior), all of Commerce, Pauline Hancock, Jefferson, and Johnnie Kennedy (Don), Goshen, Ind.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, at 11 a.m., from Webbs Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Hal Cason and Bob Hill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 27, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
