JEFFERSON – Walker Alex Norris, 61, died Sunday, January 23, 2011.
Born in Waynesville, N.C., on September 3, 1949, he was the son of the late Edgar Walker Norris and Mary Coleen Gibson. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam, where he was awarded a Silver Star. He was employed by Rhodia Chemical in Winder.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Porter Norris, Greenville, S.C.; children, Amber (Jonathan) Strickland and Isaiah Norris, both of Statham, James (Amanda) Norris, Commerce, Lauren (Kristopher) Wood, Canada; a brother, Tom (Corrine) Norris, Murrayville; grandchildren, Zane Norris, Lillie Wood and Jacob Wood.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, February 1, from the Brockton Road Baptist Church at 7 p.m.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
