MAYSVILLE – Paul Kenneth “Smut” Smith, 73, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Mattie Alexander Smith. He was retired from Patterson Pump Company and was a former volunteer fireman. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was always smiling and willing to help anyone in need, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Gardiner Smith, Maysville; daughter and son-in-law, Paula Shannon Smith and Joseph Campbell; granddaughter, Sarah Campbell, Alto; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Smith, Athens; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Marie Gardiner, Lula; and nephews, Greg Gardiner, Maysville, and Chris Gardiner, Lula.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. James Dumas officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
