JEFFERSON – Rufus Eubanks, 86, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, following a period of declining health. Born in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Lee Roland and Willie Lamb Eubanks. He was retired from Quality Foods and was a member of The Commerce Church of God. Mr. Eubanks was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Blalock.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann Hilton Eubanks, Jefferson; children, Perry Eubanks, Cornelia, Teresa Eubanks, North Carolina, Ruth Looney and Paul Harkins, both of Jefferson, Jesse Harkins, Martin; a sister, Mabel Knight, Macon; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, at 2 p.m., from The Commerce Church of God with the Revs. John Webber, Wayne Moncrief and Gettis Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Park in Commerce. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 on Friday prior to the funeral services. Honored as pallbearers will be Pete Harkins, Paul Harkins, Troy Looney, Christopher Looney, Jason Blalock and Eddie Griffin.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Rufus. He was a wonderful man and I'm glad I got to know him. I use to work at Quality Foods when I was in high school and have very fond memories of him. I always enjoyed seeing and visiting him. Prayers to Elizabeth and family!
