HOSCHTON – Cecile Pressley Stevenson, 98, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011.
She was born on August 3, 1912, in Pickens, S.C., the daughter of the late W. Lee and Estelle Thomas Pressley. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, loved ones stated. She was an active member of Cross Roads Baptist Church for 50 years until she moved to Georgia to live with her daughter. In addition to teaching Sunday School and other church functions, she was a volunteer at Seneca Hospital, member of Oconee County Garden Club, and the Teachers Retirement Club. She taught school in Pickens, Oconee and Anderson counties for 32 years. She was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church in Flowery Branch. Mrs. Stevenson was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Alexander Stevenson; and a son, William Douglas Stevenson.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Fred Koth, Hoschton; daughter-in-law, Pat Stevenson, West Union, S.C.; grandchildren, Melanie Koth Reed (Charles W. Reed), Hoschton, Heather Koth, Atlanta, Tara Stevenson, Greenville, S.C. and Kristen Stevenson, Columbia, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Gary Reed, Hoschton; and a brother-in-law, William T. Stevenson.
A memorial services will be held Thursday, January 20, at 11 a.m., in the Blackshear Place Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Crook officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Youth Building Fund at Blackshear Place Baptist Church, 3428 Atlanta Hwy., Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
