JEFFERSON – Carmalita “Carmen” Caudell Hampton, 68, long-time employee of Jefferson Drugs, Jefferson, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Wallace.
Born in Toccoa, she was the daughter of Mrs. Agnes White Caudell Hartgrove and the late Woodrow Carter Caudell. She loved to cook, crochet and take care of others and was recognized for her artistic talent in decorating the windows at Jefferson Drugs. Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ray Hartgrove; two sisters; and one nephew.
Survivors in addition to her mother, include a son, Joseph Zarrello and wife, Burgaw, North Carolina; one daughter, Joanne Lee and husband Joseph, Wilmington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Joseph Zarrello Jr., Anthony Michael Zarrello, and Ashley Marie Zarrello; two step-grandchildren, Bart Andrews and Brandy Blackburn; one great-grandchild; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Diane Fogelman, High Point, N.C.; one brother-in-law, David Hooker, High Point, N.C.; and a special friend, Teresa Caine, Jefferson.
