AUBURN – Olive S. Anderson, 88, died Saturday, January 8, 2011.
A native of West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Ethel Joy Willey Smith. She retired from Auburn Elementary School after 44 years of teaching with a Master’s Degree. She was a member of the National Educators Association, Auburn Lions Club, and a member of New Hope Road Church of Christ in Dacula. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by a sister, Gracie Gabus, formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Herman W. Anderson, Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law, William Ray and Janice Anderson, Mulberry, Fla., Robert and Janet Lynn Anderson, Dahlonega; daughters and son-in-law, Ellen June Anderson Mills, Auburn, Nancy Sue and Thomas Hair, Wilmington, N.C.; sister, Betty Jean Shapiro, Bradenton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 13, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Minister William Howard officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 12, from 4 to 8 p.m.
