COMER - India Booth Compton, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.
She was a devoted mother, wife, sister and friend, and was a member of Meadow Baptist Church for 40 years. She was a retired telephone operator with AT&T of 30 years.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Larry Partain, Elberton, and Wanda and Steve Thompson, Eastanollee; son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Pamela Dean, Cumming; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Paul Brown, Royston, and Earlene and (Jack E. Dean, deceased); nine grandchildren, Blake Yeargin, Brandon Yeargin, Kristen Stamey, Andrew Stamey, Keaton Thompson, Ethan Dean, Jordan Dean, Jack Dean and Luke Dean; several nieces and nephews; devoted caregivers, Earlene Dean and Priscilla Mullinax; and ‘Sugar,” her canine companion.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, at 2 p.m. at Meadow Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Sarna officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
