ATHENS - LaVonne Lillian (Kelley) Crum, 66, continued her path with God on January 2, 2011, after a year-long battle with gall bladder cancer. She was blessed to have her family at her home in Athens when she passed.
LaVonne (known lovingly as Bunny to her family) was born March 12, 1944, to Horace and Lillian Kelley. She graduated from Seneca High in Illinois and married Gilbert Crum on November 20, 1964. Together they ran a successful home building business which they founded in 1969 called Tomorrow’s Homes.
LaVonne leaves behind her best friend and husband of 46 years, Gib; two biological sons, Brian and Tom, Athens; daughters, Kim, New Orleans, and DeeAnn, Atlanta; niece, Jan Crosby, Athens; brothers, Vern, California, Jerry, Indianapolis, and Tom, Seneca, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wilma Ragin.
Gardening, reading, song writing, teaching piano, playing guitar and singing were Bunny’s passions. She was mentor to those who worked with and for her. She will be remembered for her impeccable handwriting, witty sense of humor and her positive outlook.
In honor of her wishes, LaVonne’s earthly remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.
