I.W. “Dick” Vail, 87, died Sunday, January 2, 2011, at BJC Medical Center in Commerce.
Born on December 23, 1923, in Black Oak, Ark., he was the son of the late Harvey “Doc” and Suzy Lee Vail. He was a welder and a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Vail was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Vail.
Survivors include a son, Richard “Dickie” Vail, Maysville; daughters, Brenda Menotti, Pine Bluff, Ark., and Linda Macheras, Monroe, La.; sisters, Dorothy Dumas, Bastrop, La., and Minnie Ladotta, Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 9 at 3 p.m. from Grove Level Baptist Church with Jeff Appling officiating.
Burial will be at Pine Bluff, Ark.
