Vannie Lee Hix

JEFFERSON – Vannie Lee Freeman Hix, 94, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010.

Born on March 6, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William Gus and Minnie Dickerson Freeman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Hix was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Hix, Sr.; sons, Ted Hix, Donald Hix; brothers, W.G. Freeman, Maurice Freeman; sisters, Pearl Freeman, Lessie Rainwater, Doris Jones, Ruth Reed and Mamie Freeman.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Hix, Jefferson; son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Joyce Hix, Jefferson; sister, Annie Mae McDonald, Commerce; daughters-in-law, Peggy L. Hix, Jefferson, Corien Hix, Hoschton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Jennifer Whisnant.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. David Sharpton officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Park with Allen Hix, Eric Hix, Terry Hix, Brian Wood, Chad Hix, Todd Hardigree, Brian Anglin and Christopher Holloway honored as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 26, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
