STATHAM – Benson Martin, 67, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late T.K. and Mary Knott Martin. He was a self-employed truck driver. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a son, Benny Ray Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Martin, Statham; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony Benson and Marquitta Martin, Auburn; daughters, Beverly Shelnutt, Statham, and Tammy Martin, Monroe; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Ann Dean, Statham, and Willie King, Commerce; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16, at 11 a.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Larry Youngblood officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, December 15, from 6 to 9 p.m.
