Billy Eugene Flynn, 83, died Saturday, December 11, 2010.
He settled in Athens with his wife and two sons in 1968 after he retired from his 23 years of service with the United States Marine Corps. His service include World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Born in Asheville, N.C., he was the son of the late Alvin and Lucy Flynn.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Marchell Flynn; sons and their families, Michael Flynn, wife Ellen and their children Eric and Caroline, and Tracy Flynn, wife Dana and their children Seth and Matia Ruji.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society or Compassionate Hospice.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
