COMER - James Cliff Yarbrough, 90, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
A native of Athens, he was the son of the late John and Belle Townsend Yarbrough. He was a farmer and was a member of Comer Baptist Church, The Lions Club and many other organizations in Madison County. He was the mayor of Comer for many years and was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Amy Lowe Yarbrough; sister, Lois Lowe; brother, George (Johanna) Townsend; sisters-in-law, Lillian Shook, Mary Buell Yarbrough and Mattie Lou Lowe; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 9, from the chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Danielsville with the Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Burial was in the Comer Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews. Honorary pallbearers were the Lions Club.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Brown Funeral, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
