ROYSTON – James Chastain, 83, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.

Born in Franklin County on August 30, 1927, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Vanna Moon Chastain. He was a farmer and a member of the Zidon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vallie Ree Beard Chastain, Royston; son, Alvin Chastain, Danielsville; sisters, Jeanette Page, Bowman, and Carol Motes, Royston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Malcolm Herndon and Reggie Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the Cary Memorial Gardens. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family is at the home.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, is in charge of arrangements.
